Creating a Timed Event

To create a timed event:

  1. In the Installed Hardware window, select the device for which you want to create an event.
  2. Choose New Event from the File menu to create a new event for that device. Or you can press the Edit button in the Schedules window. (The Event Info Window opens. This one already has sample entries.)

  3. In the Name text field, type the name of the new event. For example, "Safe Coffee Maker."
  4. In the Description text field, describe the new event. For example, "Turn the coffee maker off."
  5. Put a check in the box for each day of the week when the event will occur.
  6. Decide whether the event will occur at a specific hour, various times for security, or based on the sunrise or sunset. Use the Days of the Week check boxes, and one of the At options to set the time of day.
  7. In the Perform these actions selection list, select an action to perform. For example, select Log and type in an appropriate entry for the log, "The coffee maker turned off."
  8. In the Perform these actions area, select the Plus sign. (Another action line like the first one is added.)
  9. In the selection list for the second action, select another action; for example, Play Sound and type in select a sound to play (example, Magic).
